Peking Opera is widely distributed throughout China, but Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai are the three main performance centers. It mainly sings and reads in Beijing dialect, and the performance tells historical, political and social stories. "Hui troupes entering Beijing" is generally considered to be the source of the formation of Peking opera. In the last Qianlong period, Han opera was introduced to Beijing and incorporated into Hui troupes, and the "merging of Hui and Han" further created conditions for the formation of Peking opera. Since then, Hui opera and Han opera have continued to blend and influence each other, and gradually absorbed Beijing characters in Nianyu singing style. Finally Peking opera develop as an independent opera. In the middle of the 19th century, Peking opeara gained unprecedented popularity in the Qing court.
